August Weddings 2017

August 19, 2017: Hannah & Chandler Fahrner
Hannah & Chandler were married at the Alpine Christ Church Presbyterian in Alpine, TN, and the reception was held at The Clark House in Livingston, TN. This little church in Alpine is small but beautiful and intimate. The Clark House is, again, one of our favorite venues to film at in general. It has beautiful indoor and outdoor options, but what really puts it over the top is its floral and catering options. Mitchell White designs the floral arrangements and décor. The Fahrner wedding had touches of Disney charm worked into it, and  Hannah looked like a princess in her wedding dress. It had sparkly straps with a deep V neckline and a full skirt. Her bridesmaids wore long light pink dresses with silver design on them. All of the dresses were from Hello Honey, and they all carried gorgeous white and deep red bouquets by Mitchell. Their make-up was done by FACES and hair by Manhattan Salon, both in Cookeville, TN. The guys classy tuxes were from CityBoy Tuxedos.

Their love story, as told by Hannah:
"Chandler and I met in the spring of 2015. I was participating in the Disney College Program and he was one of my leaders at my work location. We quickly became friends while working together and after four months when I left to go home we stayed in touch. We got to know one another through phone calls and Facetime for three months before we saw one another again. Our entire dating relationship has been long distance and has hard as that was we know it made us stronger for the future. We tried to see each other about once a month and after one year of dating Chandler asked me to marry him, and I said yes! A year of planning for the wedding, finishing my senior year of college, and packing to move 10 hours away went by so quickly. Our day was perfect, everything we had ever imagined."

Favorite part of the day:
"Chandler's favorite part of the day was by far the firework send off. It was only appropriate that we end our day with Disney Fireworks to tie up our Disney Reception. Mine was the live band! The entire reception was set with a fun loving mood with the band that just kept the party going. On a collective note though, we both agree that our foot washing during the Ceremony was the most humbling and memorable part of our day. It was the perfect way to set ourselves up for success for our forever. To serve one another selflessly."

The couple's rings came from Cumberland Gold Jewelry. The beautiful Disney inspired cakes were crafted by the House of Frosting. The fun photo booth was by 5 Diamond Productions, whom we love working with. The photographer was Marissa Sorrell Photography, and the Fahrner pictures are gorgeous! And Kerri Apple was the coordinator and made the day go so smoothly. Here is their Intro!

August 26, 2017: Shea & Nick Wilson
Shea & Nick were married at the Saltbox Inn in Cookeville, TN. We LOVE the Saltbox and have filmed there many times; it's never disappointed! I have known both Shea & Nick for several years; I graduated from high school with Nick. I was so excited when they contacted us about filming, because it's always just a little more special when you know the couple. Shea was stunning in her strapless, lace-covered, fitted gown, surrounded by her bridesmaids in long taupe dresses. The guys wore handsome grey tuxes, rented from CityBoy Tuxedos in Cookeville. It was a great day for a wedding, and Shea & Nick seem to have so much fun together.

Their love story, as told by Shea:
"Well that one is pretty comical..me and Nick had known each other in high school, but I laugh back now when I tell him "I would have never dated you when we were in high school" but now look at us! He had asked me out on date, which I accepted just thinking it would be a free dinner and that would be all that would ever come from it. He said I was very cold-hearted on our first date. He thinks I made him take me somewhere out of Cookeville so that no one would see us together (which was not the case, I just wanted to go somewhere different). On the date I told him that I was not looking to date anyone, and he laughed it off and said "Okay, we will see." We started to hang out with some of our friends together and then went out a few more dates, when one night I was leaving the house, and my mom started hounding me with 100 questions about where I was going and who I had been hanging out with. I told her, "Mom, it is nothing serious right now, IF it becomes something more, then I will tell you." When I had walked out of the door, and she immediately ran upstairs into our attic and grabbed my old yearbook out of a box and started flipping through it. She had always worked in the school system so she pretty much knew history of everyone, with me only answering 3 of her questions she was able to figure out who I was with just by looking through the photos. The only things I had told her was "Yes we went to high school together", "he is 1 year older than me", "and yes, he has 2 older brothers", she made it all the way in the back to the W's when she slammed the book shut and grabbed her phone and text me "IT BETTER NOT BE NICK WILSON!!!" I never replied back to her text, but she fell in love with him as much as I did after we had him over for family dinner. We had dated 1 year and 9 months before he asked me to marry him on Christmas morning (which was not his plan at all but he said he couldn't hold on to it anymore). I have been eating all of my words ever since, never say never!"

Favorite part of the day:
"Nick and I both agree that our all time favorite part was our first look moment we shared together. Then, a close second favorite would be the reception and just having all of our favorite people that we love all in one place together to celebrate with us."

We got to work with Kerri Apple for this wedding as well! The photographer was Casey Mackie Photography. Cupcakes were from Lorie Wright at LaLa's Cupcakes in Sparta, TN. Landon with Cosmo Creations was the DJ, and they provided the photobooth as well. Beer was provided by Calfkiller Brewery in Sparta, TN, and the delicious catering was from Grade-A-Catering. The two were married by a close friend, Chris Howard.

July Weddings 2017

July 2, 2017: Melissa & Will Meyer
Melissa & Will were married at Howe Farms in Georgetown, TN. It was our first time filming at this venue, but we enjoyed it so much. Everyone was easy to work with, and it was GORGEOUS. The website states that the venue is "nestled in lush, rolling hills just outside Chattanooga and minutes from Cleveland. More than 120 acres of natural, breathtaking beauty are complemented by wide open fields, stunning barns, plentiful orchards, tranquil lake views, and panoramic vistas. Ranging from sophisticated to casual elegance, Howe Farms offers a complete package for the perfect setting on your special day." Melissa was a charming bride, and the love between she and her family members was so heart-warming, only matched by the love between her and Will. Melissa wore a lace dress with a deep sweetheart neckline, a low back, and a long lace train. Her bridesmaids wore long navy dresses, and the men wore dark grey suits. We worked with Camellia and her girls from CAMfetti, and they made the wedding day run SO smoothly! They were both so kind, organized, and fun. We would love to work with them again. We also worked with Sara from Sara Kristen Photography, who is both a sweetheart and a beast behind the camera. Her photos from this wedding are so pretty. And the DJ was DJ Scuba Steve who we have worked with several times before. Not only does he play great music, but he interacts with guests and really makes it a great party. We loved this wedding and wish both Melissa & Will all the best!

July 22, 2017: Chrissie & Adam Perry
Chrissie & Adam were married at The Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, TN and had their reception at Loveless Cafe. The chapel was beautiful, and we always love filming at the Loveless barn. They used the Loveless planner, Melissa Dodson and said that she was awesome to work with! Chrissie wore such a pretty dress with a fitted waist and a lace neckline. Adam wore a handsome navy tux, and they looked so happy on their wedding day.

Their love story, as told by Chrissie:
"Adam and I attended the same high school but were just acquaintances. We ran into each other after college when one of my college roommates married one if his friends from our hometown. He asked me to dance at the wedding and we started dating shortly after! 2 years later he asked me to marry him! "

Favorite part of the day:
"Our favorite part of our wedding day was our first dance!"

Hello Trolley provided transportation. Wedding invitations were ordered from Minted.comNashville Sweets made the pretty, nearly naked, yummy cake, which is featured on the video thumbnail. Caprice Palmer from The Enchanted Florists made the gorgeous bouquets. Choice DJs kept the party going. Sarah Sidwell Photography was fabulous and captured the day perfectly - here is a link to the Perry wedding!

June Weddings 2017

We had three wonderful weddings in early June! I know it's already November (Where has this year gone??), but I wanted to revisit these videos and these awesome couples.

June 2, 2017: Megan & Will Simpson
Megan & will were married at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Jackson, TN. The reception was at  The Opera House in Humboldt, TNFrom the website, "the Opera House Event Hall is 7,500 square feet of beautiful open space on two stories complete with a gorgeous outdoor courtyard in Downtown Humboldt." It is a beautiful space with exposed brick walls and hardwood floors. The wedding coordinator/planner was Tammy Davis, and she kept everything running smoothly. Casey spent the whole day with Megan and her bridal party. Their hair and makeup was courtesy of Paige McCormick. Megan looked stunning in her dress; it had a deep sweetheart neckline and had a low keyhole in the back. She wore it so well, and her bubbly personality and brilliant smile made her truly a bride to see. Her bridesmaids wore blue-green high-low dresses with tank sleeves and a low-V neckline; this color looked so good on all of them! You can see all of them in Megan's "The Dress" video:

Their love story, as told by Megan:
"Will and I met 5 years ago while both working in the ER. I was very stubborn at first but eventually caved and went on a date with him! From there the story truly unfolds. After a few short months, I secretly knew he was the man of my dreams after he said, 'I love you' for the first time! After many trials and tribulations the perfect proposal occurred November 25, 2016 surrounded by both families who were in on the secret!"

Favorite part of the day:
"My favorite part of our wedding day was the first look! It was a moment I will never forget! Will is not an emotional person, but in that moment, the emotions were so transparent! It was also extremely special having our parents share the moment with us as they watched in the background.
"

The white bouquets with greenery were crafted by J. Kent Freeman. Their caterer was Carolyn Porter of Bradford, TN and the cakes were made by her daughter Tracey Sudzum. Their rentals were provided by M&M Rentals. Their DJ was Wade Evans of Nashville, TN, and he kept the party going all evening. Their photographer was Pure1 Photography; here is a link to previews from the Simpson wedding! And their party bus transportation was provided by Rhino Limo Services. Here is their Intro!

June 3, 2017: Kellie & James Locum
Kellie & James were actually married in beautiful Ireland! They celebrated with a reception with family and friends at the Duck Pond Manor in Sparta, TN, which we were able to film. The website tells a little bit about the history of the building. It was originally known as the England Mansion, and its building process began in 1861! The 5000 sq foot mansion was built using bricks fired in a kiln right in the farm. How cool is that? Tara Ballinger of Duck Pond Manor was the coordinator and helped everything to run so smoothly on their reception day. Let me tell you; Kellie & James were clearly smitten with each other, and everyone really enjoyed celebrating with them. Kellie was glowing, with her pretty white dress from Ready, Set, Grow in Cookeville, TN that was fitted at her waist with a full skirt. It had a sweetheart neckline, but with an illusion neckline with decorative lace down her arms as sleeves. James looked handsome in his grey suit from Kohl's and light pink tie. My favorite part of their wedding? Their ADORABLE puppy that made her way into many shots in the Intro.

Their love story, as told by Kellie:
"James and I met at TTU in the Fall of 2016 in the Tech Grill one afternoon. He sat down at the table I was at and asked me what kind of music I was listening to on my headphones. We've been together ever since."

Favorite part of the day:
"Simply getting to marry the love of my life is definitely the best part of our wedding. Talk about a dream come true to do life with my best friend ."

Wedding invitations were ordered from Minted.com. Tyrone Carver was the DJ, and we always really enjoy his work - great DJ! Barbara Anderson made the traditional fountain cake, which you can admire in the video below as well. Brandi Zeck Photography and Keepsake Photography both captured the day. We have worked with Heather from Keepsake many times, and we consider her a good friend. Brandi was great to work with as well. I'm fond of this Intro because of the happiness that is evident from the day as well as this pretty perfect song. Congrats again you two, and congrats on your new bundle of joy, Cooper!

June 10, 2017: Lindsay & Joey Meredith
Lindsay & Joey were married at Rosewood Chapel and Event Center in Gainesboro, TN. We have filmed at this venue many times, and it is beautiful and perfect. It has indoor and outdoor space, both with so much character! And its event prices are so reasonable for everything that you get! Casey spent the morning with Lindsay and her beautiful bridesmaids. Lindsay wore a gorgeous dress from The White Room in Lebanon, TN. It had a deep sweetheart neckline with a long trained and was embellished and trimmed beautifully. Lindsay was stunning in it! Her bridesmaids wore long burgundy dresses, also from The White Room. Here is Lindsay's "The Dress" video:

Their love story, as told by Lindsay:
"So a short version of mine and Joey's love story. Let's see! We met while we both were in college at tech but actually didn't talk to each other until through social media when Joey was living in Boston for the summer of 2012. We became really great friends for the next year and then became a couple in June of 2013."

Favorite part of the day:
"I had a couple favorites parts. One being that my whole family and his were able to be a part of our wedding. We were so happy and thankful to be surrounded by everyone that we love. Also, I really am glad we decided to wait to see each other until we walked down the aisle."

The tuxes came from City Boy Tuxedos in Cookeville, TN. They had a shuttle provided by Upper Cumberland Shuttle Service. Holes to Go from Nashville, TN were used for the putt putt, which was a big hit. Catering was by Carol's Catering in Gainesboro. The cake was by Tonya Stafford in Gainesboro. DJ was 5 Diamond Productions in Cookeville, TN, who we absolutely love to work with. Zach and Sarah Photography were the photographers; they are one of our favorites to work with. Here is the blog post from the Meredith wedding! It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding for a precious couple. Congrats!

May Weddings 2017

May 3, 2017: Haley & Benjamin Woody
Haley & Ben were married at Hunter Valley Farms in Knoxville, TN. This was our first time at this venue, and it is so beautiful! Haley & Ben were married with a lake background, and the venue had a large pavilion in which the reception was held as well.  The couple had an intimate wedding with a small wedding party consisting of Haley's cousin as her bridesmaid and Ben's brother as his groomsman. Haley's dress was so pretty on her with a sparkled bodice and a full skirt that made her look like a princess. And her smile? I've never seen a bride smile so much on her wedding day! Her bridesmaid wore a long Tiffany blue dress, and the boys wore classic black tuxes. These two are so unbelievably sweet together.

Their love story, as told by Haley:
"Our story began in June 2013 at Starbucks in Knoxville, Tennessee. We had both heard a few things about each other through my brother. We were both eager to meet each other after hearing about our common interest, The Lord of the Rings series. I sat eagerly at a table with my friends awaiting Ben's arrival. I had never actually seen him before, so I watched the door looking for a man that looked like he could be a Ben. The second he walked in, I knew it was him and it was love at first sight. He made his way to our table and introduced himself, and the second we shook hands, we became inseparable.
"From that moment on, we spent the entire summer together not spending a single day apart. We started out hanging out in a group setting with all of our friends. We spent a majority of our time at the neighborhood pool, a local putt putt course, and my house pulling all-nighters, while playing games with everyone in our game room. We would talk for hours and hours and as things became more serious we decided to start our relationship as an official couple.
"Once we starting dating we grew closer and closer. The more I learned about him, the more my love for him grew. Whenever we weren't together, we were constantly texting. We have always had great communication since we met and our relationship has thrived by always putting the other persons' needs above your own. After realizing we couldn't spend a second apart anymore, we decided it was time to get engaged and tie the knot.We have been together almost four years now, and are super eager to officially devote the rest of our lives to each other."

Jessica Lee Photographic Art did their photography. Here's a link to their amazing engagement photos. Take a look at Haley & Ben's Intro - we are pretty proud of it!

May 6, 2017: Birrilla Maddox & Cade Riddle
Birrilla & Cade were married at The CastlePost in Versailles, KY. This place is one of the most amazing and fairy-tale inspired venues at which we have ever filmed. Its website describes the venue as "timeless elegance," and that couldn't be more true. "The Kentucky Castle was built as a romantic gesture by a local couple after being inspired by a European getaway. As the torch has been passed on, the romance lives on inside the twelve foot wooden doors." Everything about this wedding was beautiful and elegant. Birrilla wore an amazing dress from Blush by Hayley Paige, and purchased it from Twirl in Lexington, KY. I had the privilege of going with Birrilla to pick out her dress, and the girls at Twirl made us feel special, and they took special time and attention to choose the perfect dress for Birrilla. It was strapless with a sweetheart neckline and a wrapped bodice with a textured over skirt and a tulle skirt underneath. It was unique and perfect for her. Cade's classic black tux came from Vera Wang Black at Men's Warehouse, and he looked classy and handsome in it. Birrilla and her girls had their hair and makeup done by Pink Lou Lou.  They were friendly and really made these ladies look so pretty. The bridesmaids' dresses were gold and made of sparkles and were from Rent the Runway. Here is Birrilla's Dress video!

Their love story, as told by Birrilla:
"We initially met in medical school when Cade was wearing a mismatched outfit, which Birrilla proceeded to make fun of Cade for. We became friends after that and found common ground in the fact that both our mothers were friends in college. We then started dating and spending virtually all of our time together for five and a half years through all of medical school and the first part of residency. After those five and a half years Cade (finally) proposed and the rest is history!"

Favorite part of the day:

"Getting to celebrate with all of our friends and family!"

The wedding coordinator was Betsy Lowe from Planned to Perfection of the Bluegrass. I know that she helped Birrilla out a lot in the planning process, and she kept things running smoothly on the wedding day, despite the threat of rain all day. Love and Lenses was the photographer, and not only were they easy to work with, but they take some GORGEOUS photos. Photos from Birrilla & Cade's wedding should be up soon, but here's a link to their engagement photos. The pretty flowers were from Doug Smith Designs. The cake was from Tinkers, so yummy and beautiful as well. The DJ was CD Productions, and Chris and his team threw a great party. Congrats again to two of my favorite people from my medical residency program, Birrilla & Cade!

May 20, 2017: Stephanie & Jordan Burke
Stephanie & Jordan were married at the Griffin Gate Marriott in Lexington, KY. Stephanie was one of our happiest, most bubbly brides of the year, and while I didn't get to meet her, I did help with her videos, and her personality just shined this day. Her beautiful dress was from Twirl as well, like we mentioned in the above blog section. Stephanie's dress was one of my favorite's from the year too, with a deep sweetheart neckline and a layered, full skirt. Her long hair was curled and swept to the side by Christina Wiley. The men's navy tuxes were from Genos. The bridesmaids' dresses were long and mint green with a lace neckline from David's Bridal. Here's Stephanie's video:

Their love story, as told by Stephanie:
"Jordan and I met in middle school 13 years ago in the lunch line. He was the new kid at school so I introduced myself. Although we were near each other for the next 5 years, we never really spoke to each other. I always had a crush on him but never acted upon it. It wouldn't be until we went to two separate colleges, that fate would bring us together. One day over Facebook we started messaging and catching up. He asked for my number to talk about "girl problems." We ended up on the phone for 3 hours talking about everything except for that. I would later find out he only said that so he could get my number. He asked me on a date and the rest is history."

Favorite part of the day:
"As cliche as it may be, my favorite part of the day was giving our vows to each other. My reasoning for this is because we had decided to write our own vows separately and not let each other know what they say. I went first and one of my vows were 'I vow to teach you all the lyrics to one song a month so you can stop butchering everything that comes on the radio,' and in his vows he actually mentioned that same thing! I thought that was a very funny and special moment that I'll never forget."

The big, blossoming bouquets were from Carol Lynn Events. Bethany Gornik was the event planner and did a great job keeping everything together and running smoothly. Angie Potter took the couple's photos, and unfortunately, I can't find a link to her website! If she sees this blog, I would love to post a link for her to this couple's photos. Tinkers made this couple's cake as well and did another amazing job! Complete Weddings & Events provided the DJ, and they made the reception so fun. Here is their Intro video!

May 27, 2017: Claudia & Jacob Buckner
Claudia & Jacob were married at the Salt Box Inn and Stables in Cookeville, TN. We have filmed here several times now, and we are impressed every time. On Claudia's wedding day, there were threat of storms all day and Randi Barksdale with Jet Set Planning along with the venue kept everyone calm and made a plan B quickly when it did storm. Despite the weather, everyone had a great day, and Claudia was happy marrying her groom anyway. Teresa Randolph did the bride and bridesmaids' hair. Makeup was by Merle Norman Cosmetics of Cookeville. The bridal gown and bridesmaids' dresses came from The White Room, and the mother of the bride gown came from Magnolia James Bridal, as did the tuxedos. Claudia's dress had a fitted bodice with a full skirt with pretty details from top to bottom, and the bridesmaids' dresses were long and blush pink with deep V necklines. Dave Matlock created the bouquets.

Their love story:
"They met in high school and became friends. They attended separate colleges initially, and then found each other, again fortuitously, in matching blue satin togas at a fraternity party. It was destiny. He was drawn to her fun-loving personality, and she was drawn to his unrelenting drive and good heart. They began dating when Claudia said, 'We are dating.' They became engaged after Claudia said, 'I want to marry you.' Jacob decided he could not live without her and took the plunge on November 20, 2016."

Favorite part of the day:
"The first time I saw Jacob and looked into his eyes"

Ellie Odom Photography did the photography, and their photos that I've seen so far are beautiful! Grade A Catering was the caterer; we've worked with them handfuls of times, and the food is always wonderful. The wedding napkins were from Cookeville Embroidery. And the cake was from Mary Ellen Roberts at A Finicky Bakery. Here is their Intro!

April Weddings 2017

April 8, 2017: Alyssa & Adam Boucher
Alyssa & Adam were married at The Saltbox Inn and Stables in Cookeville, TN. We love The Saltbox, and every wedding we film there is beautiful. There are indoor and outdoor options at this venue, and most receptions are held inside their spacious stable. There is also a Rolls Royce Limousine for transportation! Alyssa was a sweetheart and looked so pretty in her white dress with lace detailing along the neckline from Magnolia James in Cookeville. Her bridesmaids wore long, powder-blue dresses with differing necklines. Ginger Sharp did their flattering makeup, and Nicole Hughes styled all of their perfect hair.

Their love story, as told by Alyssa:
"Adam and I met in college at UT Knoxville. He was in the agricultural fraternity, and I was in the agricultural sorority. We had all of the same friends and were really good friends first. I had a crush on him for at least a year, but we never dated. Finally, he asked me out on a date, and we dated for 4 years. In that time frame, I moved for graduate school and internships, and he moved for his job. We did long distance for about 1.5 years and he proposed in Knoxville at Ijam's nature center last June.

Favorite part of the day:
"Seeing all of our college friends for a mini-reunion"

We worked with Christan C George Photography, and OMG, the Boucher's wedding photos are AMAZING. You can scroll through some of them here. Wow, wow. Joey Locke designed the beautiful flowers as well as coordinated the wedding. Catering was provided by Grade A Catering, which we LOVE. The gorgeous "naked" cake was by Classic Cakes by Leslie. Music was provided by Cookeville DJ; and the reception was definitely a fun party. Thank you to Alyssa & Adam for including us in your wonderful wedding day. Here is their Intro!

April 22, 2017: Cady & Alex Cavalea
Cady & Alex were married at Castleton Farms in Loudon, TN. We considered this wedding venue ourselves whenever we were planning our wedding, and I was so excited to finally be able to film here. It is so gorgeous. Castleton Farms describes itself well on its website: "The Castleton Couple is the southern duo who loves the beauty and drama of a charming Greek Revival Antebellum Manor and lush gardens. It’s the vintage bride who yearns for a rustic and chic affair in our Carriage House. It’s the Groom who dreams of romance under the Tuscan sun, surrounded by intoxicating vineyards by the Laghetto. It’s the whimsical couple seeking an enchanted wedding in the forest at our Woodland Chapel. It’s a couple who wants a small, intimate gathering of those she loves. It’s the couple who can’t wait to spend an entire weekend with hundreds of their friends and family." Cady & Alex were the perfect Castleton couple. Cady was a stunning bride, with a dress that wrapped snuggly around her to past her hips then flared out with tulle. Her bridesmaids wore pastel shades of blue, purple, and green, and the group looked beautiful all together. You can see all the details in Cady's "The Dress" video:

Their love story, as told by Cady:
"Tiring of the single life, I joined Match.com on a whim in the spring of 2014 when I saw there was a GroupOn for a month membership for 1/2 the price! After about 6 weeks on the site and a couple of mediocre dates, I was starting to feel defeated. That's when this quirky but cute boy (pictured with a cat) showed up in my list of potential matches. His profile said he was moving to Knoxville, TN to start his general surgery residency in June.....This was the middle of May, you could say he was casting the net a little early since he was still a Chicago resident at the time. After a lot of snarky/nerdy banter back and forth for a couple weeks, he said he was preparing to move over Memorial Day weekend, and we discovered we both liked to sing karaoke. We decided it would be fun to meet up and sing karaoke once he officially became a Knoxville resident. I'm not typically an impatient person, but the compassionate nurse part of me began to worry that he had died tragically in a car crash on his way when I had not heard from him in 4 days. I decided to reach out to him via Match (he had my number, but I did not have his) and express my concern. It was in this moment that I realized his reaction to my 'reaching out' would set the course of our relationship and then worried that I might have been a tad too persistent....After an excruciating hour after pressing the send button and completely second guessing my instincts, he texted me (Thank God!) asking me out to sing karaoke the next night at the classy establishment of Bullfeathers.
"He serenaded me with his song choices of Like a Surgeon (Weird Al parody of Madonna's Like a Virgin) and Two Become One (Spice Girls). I sang him Our Song (by TSwift) who happened to be his biggest celebrity crush at the time. We both realize now how cliche my song choice was! In between our trips to the microphone that night, we both had the easiest conversation (sometimes in weird voices) on a first date that each other had ever had. Karaoke with a stranger is a ballsy first date idea, but we both rocked it out! I knew that night he was one of kind. I guess you could say it was love at first uncanny Christopher Walken impression. After another hilarious second date the next week to Cotton Eyed Joe's (because Alex wanted a truly authentic welcome to the South), we decided we wanted to see where our relationship would lead. He signed up to support me through my last year and half of graduate school to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and I signed up to support him through the grueling 5 year grind that is general surgery residency (it is definitely NOT Grey's Anatomy as much as I wish it was- ha) Who knew that 1 year later we would make the leap and move in together merging our 2 fur families: his two cats Spidey and Nala and my pup Gracie.
"This past June we managed to sneak away to Asheville for 36 hours (this is a feat in surgical residency especially in the month of June #blessed). We visited Biltmore Estate and had a little too much fun at the winery so we decided to check into our cozy bed and breakfast early. Conveniently, there was a "heart-shaped" jacuzzi tube just begging to be used so I decided to test it out before our dinner reservations that night. Right after I was up to my ears in soapsuds and jacuzzi jets, I was told to close my eyes because he had a "surprise" for me. I heard him scurrying around and heard things falling to the ground....which turned out to be rose petals. After the extensive set-up, he asked me to open my eyes to find him on one knee as he proposed (in one of his weird voices) with the ring on a tray of roses and chocolate covered strawberries that read #WEDDINGISCOMING (Game of Thrones reference and his pick for wedding hashtag that I vetoed early on). I made him ask me again in a "normal" voice. :) But I said yes, of course! He's everything and then nothing like I would have imagined my future husband to be! I am thankful everyday that he helps me fly my nerd flag and he's thankful I help him dress better and become less socially awkward like Sheldon. Turns out, he was the best BARGAIN I have ever brought home, and he got a PURDY sweet deal out of it himself! We cannot wait to grow in mutual weirdness together for the rest of our lives as husband and wife!"

Favorite part of the day:
"Our 'date in the middle of the day' AKA our first look and my dance with all my bridesmaids was a close 2nd"

We worked with Carrie Jo Pinckard with Texture Photo for this wedding, who is super amazing. All of her photos are seriously gorgeous. (I couldn't find a link directly to the Cavalea wedding photos, but I have seen them on Cady's Facebook!) The wedding planner/coordinator was Darla Walker with Castleton Events. The ceremony music was by the Lake Terrace Trio. At the reception, there was Music in Motion and the Swing Street Orchestra. The cake was by The Cakery Bakery, and the colorful flowers were from Samuel Franklin Florals. All Occasions Catering provided the yummy food, and party rentals were from All Occasions Party Rentals. The Photo Booth was from All 4 You Photobooth. Overall, the wedding was so beautiful, despite the rain, and the reception was a BLAST. Congrats, again, to Cady & Alex!

Kayla & James - Wedding Photos
